But of course it's unable to observe itself--that's the whole point! Neuroscientists have known for years the brain runs many processes that are invisible to itself, and rightly so: who would want to regulate their own breathing in real-time? And what about the brain prevents itself from observing reactions to its own actions? What's to prevent the brain from sending a signal, observing that "someone" sent a signal, receiving a response, and observing that "something" sent "something" a response? Why can a material object not observe a representation of a material object? I guess video cameras that track motion are black-box magjyck??TheGoldStandardIsALiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09343010445615132849noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1808043121655847826.post-66969742887552538842011-07-29T00:17:02.212+01:002011-07-29T00:17:02.212+01:00This paper is laughable; at best it is a "NUH...This paper is laughable; at best it is a "NUH-UH" rebuttal to years of neuroscience research, and at worst it is a fanatic revulsion to the discovery of how unremarkable consciousness really is.TheGoldStandardIsALiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09343010445615132849noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1808043121655847826.post-20854810197362392822011-06-27T00:01:46.478+01:002011-06-27T00:01:46.478+01:00A good follow-on read (if you have the time [658 p...A good follow-on read (if you have the time [658 pages] and money [$164 on Amazon]) is Daniel Kolak's "I Am You," in which he concludes not only that consciousness is a separate "thing," but that there can only be ONE consciousnes. Quite an amazing but difficult but worhwhile read.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
